Top-tier English football clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur and Thai-owned Leicester City, have taken to social media to celebrate Thailand’s Songkran festival, sending good wishes to their massive local fan base.

Yesterday, several prominent clubs in the English professional leagues posted special messages and videos to mark the Thai New Year, highlighting the deep connection between the Premier League and its supporters in Thailand.

The ‘Reds’ (Liverpool FC) featured stars Cody Gakpo and Ryan Gravenberch in a special video clip. The duo made a brave effort to speak Thai, wishing supporters a "Sawasdee Pee Mai, Thai fans."

The club’s official post read:

"Happy Songkran 2026. Liverpool FC wishes all our Thai fans the very best during this festival."

Tottenham Hotspur also embraced Thai culture, with Italian goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario recording a "Suksan Wan Songkran" greeting accompanied by traditional Thai festival music.

Manchester United shared a creative graphic of their players in poses reminiscent of Songkran water fights. Their message, written in Thai, wished the "Red Devils" family a "splashing and joyful" holiday, complete with the Thai flag and red heart emoji.

Meanwhile, defending champions Manchester City combined the festivities with their recent on-field success. Following their 3-0 victory over Chelsea on April 12, the club posted:

"Celebrate Songkran! Celebrate 3 points! Where are our citizens splashing water this year? Let us know!"

Leicester City, famously owned by Thailand’s King Power Group, maintained their long-standing tradition of honouring Thai culture. The "Siamese Foxes" posted an official greeting in Thai, stating:

"Happy Songkran 2026. Leicester City Football Club joins in celebrating the Songkran Festival for the year 2026."

The annual tradition of English clubs celebrating Songkran has become a staple of digital engagement, acknowledging Thailand as one of the most passionate football markets in the world.
