Teen in custody over murder of 17-year-old girlfriend in Rayong
A 16-year-old boy is in police custody in the eastern province of Rayong under suspicion that he killed his 17-year-old girlfriend, whose body was found wrapped in cloth and dumped in a garbage bin in a village in Klaeng district.
Pol Maj-Gen Chokchai Ngamwong, deputy commissioner of Second Region Provincial Police Bureau, said yesterday that victim could have been murdered elsewhere and her body moved to the bin in Village 8 in Krasae Bon sub-district, adding that forensic officers had found a fatal knife wound to the victim’s abdomen.
He also said that a couple had identified that victim as their daughter, who went missing from home about a week ago. They reportedly had been looking for her since.
It wasn’t until yesterday, when they heard a news report about a young woman being found dead a in a garbage bin, that they decided to contact the police and ask to see the victim’s body.
Police say that a 16-year-old, who was the victim’s boyfriend, was detained for questioning, adding that the suspect had allegedly admitted to killing the girl out of jealousy after she was seen talking to another man.
