King urges unity and strong international relations in new year message
His Majesty the King has urged the Thai people to strengthen international relations with friendly countries, maintain national unity and to perform their duties righteously, with morality and in the national interest for the benefit of all people in the country.
This cooperation will ensure reliable national stability, peace and happiness for all, said the King in his New Year’s message on Wednesday night.
The King extended his good wishes to the Thai people, as he recalled the passing of Queen Sirikit the Queen’s Mother last October. He said that he has been deeply moved by the Thai people’s continuing respect for the Queen’s Mother’s remains and for her performance of her duties for the country throughout her life.
The King said that this outpouring of benevolence inspires him to perform his duties to his fullest ability.
The King noted that there were events of great concern last year, such as international tensions, instability in many parts of the world and natural disasters.
These exposed problems and obstacles in various ways, which significantly affected the lives and morale of the people.
The King then called upon the powers of the ‘Triple Gems’ and the deities to protect the Thai people from suffering and danger and to grant them happiness and success throughout this year.
