Labour dispute at Daikin Industries resolved
The management and the labour union of Daikin Industries (Thailand) have reached an agreement to end their pay dispute, during negotiations mediated by labour officials from the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare.
Work resumed as normal at the company’s manufacturing plant, in the Amata industrial estate in Rayong province, at 8am this morning after the three-day suspension ordered by the management.
Labour Minister Treenuch Thienthong said today that the agreement is valid for one year from yesterday, as she expressed her satisfaction that all the parties had been successful in reaching a consensus.
The management has agreed to:
• pay all the workers a hefty bonus, amounting to seven months of their salaries plus an additional 15,000 baht
• increase their salaries in the new year by 3%
• change the ‘special reward’ from gold ornaments to 50,000 baht in cash for workers who have worked for the company for at least ten years
• increase the welfare fund for working shifts, from 150 baht to 160 baht per day
• allow workers to have nine days off for both Songkran and New Year festivals.
