HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha’s condition unstable due to severe infection
The medical team treating HRH Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendira Debyavati has revealed that she has developed a severe abdominal infection that has worsened her condition, as doctors continue to provide intensive treatment.
In a statement released today, the Bureau of the Royal Household reports that the princess, who fell unconscious during a cardiac incident on December 15, 2022, and has been receiving treatment at King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital since, has been suffering periodic complications from infections during her time in hospital.
The medical team also reports that, since April this year, doctors have been treating an infection in the abdominal cavity, involving inflammation of the large intestine.
The statement said the infection has made her condition unstable, including low blood pressure, irregular heart rhythms and abnormal blood clotting.
Despite continuous support for her lung and kidney functions, the administration of multiple antibiotics and additional medication to stabilise blood pressure and control heart rhythm, her condition has continued to deteriorate.
Doctors say that the symptoms indicate a severe infection that remains uncontrolled and is affecting the function of several major organs.
The medical team will continue to provide full treatment and monitor her condition closely, the bureau reports.
