China’s foreign minister to visit Bangkok this Thursday
China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi will visit Thailand this week as a guest of the Thai Foreign Ministry, Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow said today.
During the visit from April 23 to 25, both foreign ministers will co-chair the third meeting of the Thailand–China foreign ministers’ consultation mechanism.
The meeting aims to maintain momentum in their strategic partnership, deepen bilateral cooperation, and exchange views on regional and international issues.
Wang Yi is also scheduled to pay a courtesy call on Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul.
Meanwhile Anutin said discussions with Wang Yi would focus primarily on cooperation.
"Thailand is expected to ask China to consider increasing imports of Thai agricultural products, including rice and fruit, as well as expanding investment and technological support," he said.
According to Chinese officials, Wang Yi, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, will also visit Cambodia and Myanmar.
During the trip, he is scheduled to attend the first China–Cambodia 2+2 strategic dialogue mechanism meeting alongside China's Defense Minister Dong Jun.
