Thai Army Clarifies Cambodian Tourist Incident at Ta Kwai Temple

BANGKOK, June 20 (TNA) – The Royal Thai Army (RTA) addressed an incident where Cambodian tourists engaged in symbolic activities at Ta Kwai temple ruin in Surin on June 18.

Thai military personnel politely intervened, explaining that such displays were not in line with agreed-upon guidelines and requested their cessation.

Colonel Richa Suksuwananon, Deputy Spokesperson for the RTA, stated that approximately 30 Cambodian tourists were observed taking photos, videos, and singing at the temple in Surin province. Thai officials calmly explained the situation, and the group voluntarily stopped their activities after about 20 minutes.

The incident concluded peacefully, maintaining the cooperative atmosphere between both nations. Unarmed military personnel from both sides are permitted in the Ta Kwai Temple area to facilitate tourism under existing agreements. -819 (TNA)
