100 Voices Road To Bangkok WorldPride 2030

100 Voices Road To Bangkok WorldPride 2030

Meet Tee Chamrong Phaengnongyang, Deputy Director of the SWING Foundation, an organisation that has worked alongside sex workers and LGBTQIA+ communities across health, rights, and education since 2004.

Every Songkran, an estimated 500,000–600,000 people gather in Silom, generating around THB 30 billion in economic activity—proof that Thailand is already a global LGBTQIA+ destination. A month-long WorldPride programme here could create even broader benefits for the country.

Yet sex workers are still treated as offenders under Thailand’s Prevention and Suppression of Prostitution Act B.E. 2539 (1996). For Tee, decriminalising sex work is not a technical amendment—it recognises sex workers as workers who deserve safety, dignity, labour rights, and equal protection.

“Thailand has been ready for a long time. What remains is cooperation from government agencies and those who shape policy.” WorldPride 2030 will be truly meaningful when sex workers can name their work with pride, free from stigma and criminalisation—as part of the 100 Voices Road To Bangkok WorldPride 2030 project.
