USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group to visit Thailand next week

USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, with about 5,000 officers, ratings and Marines on board, will drop anchor in Thailand next week, after more than 200 days of deployment in the Middle East.

Informed Thai Navy sources said that the strike group and two other vessels will dock on the eastern coast of Thailand, to allow the crews to rest, recuperate and take on supplies, adding that there will be no joint exercise with the Thai Navy on this occasion.

The massive USS Abraham Lincoln Nimitz class nuclear-powered aircraft carrier left San Diego naval base in California in November, before the whole carrier strike group was deployed to the Middle East to engage in the US-Israeli campaign against Iran.

With the extended length of the deployment, there were reports of declining morale among the crews, but US Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth said such reports completely misrepresented the conditions on board.
