Malaysia issues travel advisory after two Malaysians injured in roadside blast
Malaysians residing in or travelling through Thailand's southern border provinces are being urged to remain vigilant, prioritise their personal safety and strictly follow all safety and security advice issued by local authorities, according to an advisory issued by Malaysia's Foreign Ministry.
To facilitate timely communication and consular assistance, the ministry also urged Malaysians to register and regularly update their contact details through the e-Konsular portal.
The advisory follows an explosion in a culvert beneath a road in Tak Bai district of Narathiwat province on June 29, which injured two Malaysian tourists and extensively damaged their car.
Violence in Thailand's deep South has escalated in recent weeks, with a series of suspected improvised explosive device (IED) attacks blamed on insurgents. On Sunday, two PT service stations in Pattani and another in Yala were targeted in bomb and arson attacks.
