Family confirms death of Thai travel vlogger 'Hlun Solo' in Georgia

The family of popular travel YouTuber Bowornthat Pengsuk, widely known as "Hlun Solo," has confirmed his death after he had been missing for more than two weeks during a content creation trip to Georgia, according to statements released today.

The loss of contact with the 26-year-old content creator prompted widespread search efforts on social media and official coordination between Thai and Georgian authorities.

In a Facebook post, published at 1:38am this morning, Bowornthat's brother, posting under the account name ‘Klose Mos’, expressed heartfelt grief while confirming that authorities had located his younger brother’s body.

“The family has now received confirmation that my brother has been found, but unfortunately, he is no longer with us,” the post read.

The family extended their profound gratitude to the public, supporters and all agencies involved in Thailand and abroad for sharing information, coordinating search efforts and providing moral support throughout the ordeal. They also requested privacy during this difficult time, urging the public to refrain from speculation and unverified rumours out of respect for Bowornthat and his family.

Meanwhile, the Royal Thai Embassy in Ankara, Türkiye, which oversees diplomatic affairs for Thailand in Georgia, confirmed the tragedy following an on-the-ground investigation.

Jaithai Upakarnitikaset, director general of the Department of Information and Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, stated that embassy officials travelled directly to Georgia to liaise with local authorities. Georgian officials confirmed Bowornthat’s death, adding that the cause of death remains under investigation.

The embassy has informed the victim’s family and will continue to provide updates as the investigation progresses.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deepest condolences to the family and stated that it is working closely with the embassy and Georgian authorities to complete all necessary legal procedures and facilitate the repatriation of Bowornthat's body to Thailand for religious rites.
