The three suspects have been identified by Thai police as Kittisak, Churee and Phu Cher-lin. CIB officers claim that they have Thai ID cards and stay in one of their luxury houses in Bangkok every time they visit the city.
Armed with a search warrant, CIB officers searched one of Kok An’s houses in Prawet district today, which was also searched last week, for incriminating evidence related to the operations of the call centres and other scam activities in the Poipet border town.
Pol Gen Thatchai Pitaneelaboot, the police inspector-general, in his capacity as head of the Cybercrime Suppression Centre, is expected to hold a press conference on Wednesday regarding the progress of the investigation into Kok An’s alleged criminal activities.
Kok An is a senator in Cambodia and is closely connected with Cambodian Senate Speaker Hun Sen. He reportedly owns several high-rise buildings in Poipet, which are believed to house scam activities and money laundering operations.
