Vietnamese President To Lam to begin Thailand visit on May 27
Vietnamese President To Lam will pay an official three-day visit to Thailand beginning on May 27 to advance the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, according to Thailand’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The visit, scheduled for May 27–29, comes at the invitation of Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. It marks Lam’s first official trip to Thailand since assuming the presidency and the role of general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam in April.
During the visit, Lam and his spouse will have an audience with Their Majesties King Maha Vajiralongkorn and Queen Suthida.
Anutin will hold talks with Lam at Government House, focusing on strengthening security, economic and trade cooperation.
According to the ministry, a key item on the agenda is the integration of the two economies through a “Three Connects” strategy.
The leaders will also discuss joint efforts in science, technology, innovation and people-to-people relations.
Lam is also scheduled to meet with the president of the National Assembly and the speaker of the House of Representatives. In addition, he will preside over the opening ceremony of the Thailand-Vietnam Business Forum.
The three-day visit coincides with the 50th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic ties between the two countries.
