About 30 people are stranded in a housing estate in Mueang district of Chiang Mai and have not eaten all day.
According to the Chiang Mai 108 Facebook page, the Thiprat Villa housing estate, on Wiang Ping Road in Chang Klan sub-district, flooded yesterday afternoon and the water has risen to chest level, leaving about 30 people, including a disabled man, three cats and two dogs, unable to leave their houses.
The netizen also said that, at about 2am this morning, the group received a call promising that someone will be sent to rescue them but, at the time of filing this report, help had not arrived.
Meanwhile, a volunteer teacher is seeking urgent help, claiming that his village on a mountain in Chiang Dao district of Chiang Mai is isolated, because the wooden bridge, the only access to the outside world, was washed away by a flash flood last night.
In his Facebook post, the teacher said that there is no electricity, landline or cell-phone signal in the village and they are now marooned and in urgent need of help.
Meanwhile, State Railways of Thailand has announced the closure of Chiang Mai train station due to flooding. All the trains bound for Chiang Mai will, for the time being, terminate in Lampang and passengers will can board buses to complete their journey to Chiang Mai.
