Anutin to visit flood-ravaged Nan province on Sunday
Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul will visit Nan province on Sunday after his return to Bangkok on Saturday night, following the completion of his official visits to Australia and New Zealand, Government Spokesperson Rachada Dhnadirek told the media today.
She said that the prime minister will hold discussions with officials concerned about the latest flood situation and relief operations and visit flood victims to get first-hand information about their needs.
She also said that, after Nan, the prime minister will proceed to Ubon Ratchathani province to visit and offer moral support to soldiers who were injured by a landmine explosion in the Anh Ma border pass in Nam Yuen district on August 17.
Meanwhile, the Department of Public Disaster Prevention and Mitigation reported today that Nan, Sukhothai, Phitsanulok, Phetchabun, Sakhon Nakhon and Ubon Ratchathani provinces remain partially flooded, with Nan being the hardest hit.
Seven districts of Nan, covering 223 villages have been have been hit by floods, affecting over 21,000 households and over 66,000 people. The submerged districts include Pua, Tha Wang Pha, Phu Piang, Santi Suk, Na Muen, Wiang Sa and Muang.
