Second fatal crane accident in 24 hours kills two
Two people were crushed to death after a construction crane collapsed onto their vehicles at the construction site of the Rama II–Samut Sakhon elevated expressway near the Tha Chin River bridge in Samut Sakhon province on Thursday morning.
Initial reports said the accident occurred in front of the Paris Hotel.
Emergency rescue teams rushed to the scene to extract the victims from the wreckage, while police deployed additional officers to manage traffic congestion in the area.
A passing road user managed to record video footage of the incident. The clip shows the moment a concrete beam, along with the crane, suddenly collapsed across the roadway, despite traffic flowing normally beneath the structure. The falling beam struck vehicles passing below, crushing them instantly.
Additional footage from rescue workers shows two cars completely destroyed after being crushed by massive concrete beams. The vehicles were flattened beyond recognition, leaving only twisted wreckage.
This is the second fatal incident involving construction cranes within the past 24 hours, raising serious concerns over safety standards at major infrastructure construction sites. Authorities are expected to launch an investigation to determine the cause of the collapse.
