Shakira unveils 'Dai Dai' as official 2026 World Cup anthem
Colombian pop sensation Shakira has officially announced ‘Dai Dai’ as the official anthem for the FIFA World Cup 2026, marking her return to the global football stage.
The 49-year-old singer, renowned for global chart-toppers, such as ‘Whenever, Wherever’ and ‘Hips Don't Lie’, shared a one-minute teaser of the track on her Instagram account on Friday. The music video was filmed at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Brazil and features a collaboration with Nigerian Afro-beat star Burna Boy.
The full version of ‘Dai Dai’ is scheduled for worldwide release on May 14.
This is Shakira’s second official FIFA World Cup song, following the massive success of ‘Waka Waka’ (This Time for Africa), which became a global phenomenon during the 2010 tournament in South Africa.
While ‘Dai Dai’ is her second official anthem, the singer is no stranger to the World Cup stage. She previously released ‘La La La’ (Brazil 2014) for the tournament in Brazil and performed during the closing ceremony in Rio de Janeiro. Her first major World Cup appearance was in 2006, when she performed ‘Hips Don't Lie’ at the final in Germany.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup, hosted jointly by the United States, Canada and Mexico, will be the first to feature an expanded format of 48 teams. Shakira’s home nation, Colombia, has already secured its spot in the tournament.
The competition is set to kick off on June 11 and will conclude with the final on July 19.
