Australian arrested after teen's body found in suitcase
An Australian man, arrested by Thai immigration officers at Suvarnabhumi international airport last night for questioning over the disappearance of a 17-year-old Thai girl, has allegedly confessed to her killing and dumping her body in a suitcase at a secluded location in Pattaya.
The Australian suspect, whose name is being withheld by police, was stopped last night as he attempted to board a flight to Perth, Australia. Pattaya police had alerted immigration about the man, who was wanted on a charge of removing a minor from the care of their legal custodians. The girl had been reported missing by her parents.
Pattaya officers saw the Australian man on CCTV leaving an apartment building, dragging a large suitcase. They wanted to know what the luggage contained and its current location.
When the police were alerted by immigration at the airport, they asked immigration officers to ask the suspect about what was inside the suitcase and where it had been dumped.
Immigration officers succeeded in extracting the information from the suspect, which was immediately relayed to Pattaya police. As a result, they managed to find the suitcase containing the body of the missing girl today.
