เวียดนามจ่อ “ปล่อยนักโทษ” - วันที่ 31 พ.ค. สเตรตส์ไทมส์ รายงานว่า ทางการเวียดนามประกาศว่าจะปล่อยตัวนักโทษเกือบ 10,000 คน รวมถึงชาวต่างชาติ เพื่อฉลองการเลือกตั้งรัฐสภาที่เพิ่งผ่านพ้นไป
เอกสารที่ลงนามโดยประธานาธิบดีโต เลิม ผู้นำเวียดนามและเลขาธิการพรรคคอมมิวนิสต์เวียดนาม ระบุว่าในช่วงต้นเดือนมิ.ย. ผู้ต้องขัง 9,950 คนจะได้รับการปล่อยตัวภายใต้โครงการนิรโทษกรรมประจำปี 2569

นายเลอ วัน เตวียน รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงความมั่นคงสาธารณะเวียดนาม กล่าวว่าการนิรโทษกรรมครั้งนี้เป็นการเฉลิมฉลอง “ความสำเร็จของการประชุมใหญ่พรรคคอมมิวนิสต์ (ซึ่งจัดขึ้นทุกๆ 5 ปี) และการเลือกตั้งสภาแห่งชาติ”
ก่อนเสริมว่าผู้ต้องขังที่จะได้รับการปล่อยตัวนั้นรวมถึงชาวต่างชาติ 63 คน ประกอบด้วยชาย 56 คน และหญิง 7 คนจากหลากหลายสัญชาติโดยไม่ให้รายละเอียดเพิ่มเติม อย่างไรก็ตาม กฎหมายของเวียดนามระบุว่าผู้ต้องโทษในข้อหา “พยายามล้มล้างรัฐบาล” หรือ “ก่อการร้าย” จะไม่มีสิทธิ์ได้รับการปล่อยตัว
ทั้งนี้ ในปี 2568 เวียดนามปล่อยตัวนักโทษมากกว่า 22,000 คน ถือเป็นจำนวนสูงสุดเป็นประวัติการณ์ในหนึ่งปี เนื่องจากมีโอกาสพิเศษครบรอบ 50 ปีของการล่มสลายของไซง่อนและ 80 ปีการประกาศอิสรภาพ
