The petition concerns the appointment of a high school student as an MP’s assistant and the alleged misuse of funds, whereby money intended for an MP’s assistant was allegedly used to pay party membership fees.
On his Facebook page, Phai explained that, when applying to be a parliamentary assistant or any official position, there are established rules that must be followed.
Phai added that appointing a parliamentary assistant to receive money on someone else’s behalf or selecting individuals who do not meet the qualifications is no different from appointing relatives to receive salaries.
Each MP can appoint up to eight assistants, each receiving a monthly allowance of 15,000 baht.
Eligible applicants must hold qualifications, ranging from a high school diploma to a master’s degree, but must also have experience in political work or coordination.
For high school graduates to qualify as an MP’s assistant, they must have at least seven years of experience in political work or coordination, according to the official requirements.
