'I'm truly sorry for what I did': Courier suspect apologises to THAI flight attendant
The Hmong hill tribe man, who allegedly delivered a drug parcel to Thai Airways cabin crew member "Meena" at her Bang Na condominium on June 22, has apologised to the cabin crew member, who is currently detained in Australia on narcotics trafficking charges.
The man, identified only as "Uthai", offered the apology yesterday as he was being taken by police to his apartment in Muang district of Ayutthaya province for a search.
Police found some elephant-patterned fabric tote bags in the room, with traces of white powder that tested positive for heroin.
Uthai allegedly admitted to police investigators that he had travelled to Chiang Kham district of Phayao province on June 20 to collect a package containing 18 elephant-patterned tote bags soaked in heroin from an unidentified man with whom he had been in contact via the Line account "Rin Rin".
He claimed that he was not responsible for putting the heroin in the tote bags, but had simply collected the package from the unidentified man in Phayao. He admitted putting the bags into a box that was delivered to Meena's condominium.
Uthai also claimed that, after Meena's arrest in Melbourne on June 25, he got rid of most of the tote bags in his possession and the blue hooded shirt he wore when he delivered the drug parcel to Meena's condominium.
Police released video footage yesterday purportedly showing Uthai arriving at an apartment in Soi Suea Yai in Bangkok on June 26 to collect three packages after the intended recipient had declined to accept them.
Uthai is being detained on charges of possessing illegal narcotics for trafficking and trafficking illegal narcotics out of the country.
