Ladprao pub fire death toll rises to 36

The death in hospital on Friday of a sound technician, who sustained severe injuries in the July 12 pub fire in Chatuchak district, has increased the death toll to 36.

The ‘Tossakan’ band announced on its official Facebook page today that Panuwat Thipmanee, better known as ‘Benz’, passed away in Phra Narai Maharat Hospital in Lop Buri. He was 31 years old when he succumbed to his injuries at 9.50pm on July 24.

Panuwat was responsible for managing the lighting and sound systems at the ‘Rong Beer Na Ladprao’ venue, located in the Chom Phon sub-district of Chatuchak.

The fatal fire has led to a prolonged investigation into safety compliance at the premises and a tightening of controls on other night venues across the capital.
