Thailand will be hosting the 33rd edition of the region’s biennial sporting event between December 9 and 20 in Bangkok, Chon Buri and Songkhla, while the 13th ASEAN Para Games will take place in Nakhon Ratchasima between January 20 and 26 next year.
The medals’ distinctness lies in the use of a Thai weaving pattern, the symbol of this year’s Games, symbolising the weaving of friendships among ASEAN member countries and showcasing Thai identities through a perfect blend of sports and Thai art.
“The 33rd SEA Games medals represent a combination of sports and art, international cooperation and Thai identities. They are created under the theme of ‘Play by the rules’, reflecting that rules, regulations and discipline are the foundations of fair play, sporting spirit and respect for opponents,” said Gongsak Yodmani, the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) governor.
The medals, made of strong and impact-resistant materials, are 8.5cm in diameter and are 0.8cm thick. The front side features the logo of 2025 SEA Games, while the back bears the logo of the SEA Games Federation Council, along with the ‘33rd SEA Games 2025’ text.
For the ASEAN Para Games medals, the SAT governor revealed they will be just like those for the SEA Games, the only difference being the logo and symbol on the medals.
