Hlun Solo's body to return home as family awaits autopsy answers

The body of popular Thai travel vlogger Bowornthat Pengsuk, known online as 'Hlun Solo', is expected to arrive in Thailand from Georgia on Thursday.

The Thai Embassy in Ankara, which also handles consular affairs in Georgia, has released photos showing preparations for the repatriation.

Bowornthat's brother, Klose Mos, wrote in a Facebook post yesterday that the body is due to leave Georgia today.

On August 4, the embassy posted that its officials, together with Thai volunteers in Georgia and representatives of the company responsible for transporting the body, inspected the process of preparing Bowornthat's remains for air transport.

The repatriation schedule has already been communicated directly to his family and other relevant parties, the embassy said, adding that it would continue to follow up on the official autopsy results and the return of the vlogger's personal belongings from the Georgian authorities.

Klose said he had been informed that the embassy had sent a letter to the Georgian authorities requesting the early release of the autopsy and toxicology reports to the Thai authorities, as well as the prompt return of his brother's personal belongings.

Klose added that Thai volunteers and a prospective honorary consul in Georgia were also closely monitoring the process and coordinating with relevant agencies to ensure everything was completed smoothly.

The family thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Thai embassy, officials from all relevant agencies, Thai volunteers and members of the public for their assistance, support and encouragement.

After arriving in Thailand, the body will be taken to the Justice Ministry's Central Institute of Forensic Science for an additional post-mortem examination to ensure the process is complete and transparent before religious funeral rites are held at the family home, Klose said.

The additional examination is expected to take one or two days. Details of the funeral, including the date, time and venue, will be announced once arrangements have been finalised.

The cause of death of Hlun, 26, whose body was found in a hotel room in Tbilisi last month, remains under investigation.

Georgian police said hotel staff entered his room after noticing that he had checked in but had not left the building. Police said his body was found on the bed, with all of his personal belongings still in the room.

His family in Thailand learned of his death nearly two weeks later after seeking help through social media to locate him.
