ลุ้นต่อ! - วันที่ 8 พ.ค. เอพี รายงานความคืบหน้าการลงคะแนนเสียงรอบแรกของคณะพระคาร์ดินัล 133 องค์ใน การประชุมคอนเคลฟ เพื่อเลือกพระสันตะปาปาองค์ที่ 267 เมื่อวันพุธที่ 7 พ.ค.ตามเวลาท้องถิ่น

ปรากฏว่ามีควันสีดำพวยพุ่งออกมาจากปล่องไฟของโบสถ์น้อยซิสตินในนครรัฐวาติกัน โดยควันสีดำหมายความว่ายังไม่ได้พระสันตะปาปาพระองค์ใหม่ซึ่งจะทำหน้าที่ประมุขแห่งคริสตจักรนิกายโรมันคาทอลิกแทนสมเด็จพระสันตะปาปาฟรานซิสที่เพิ่งสิ้นพระชนม์เมื่อวันที่ 21 เม.ย.ที่ผ่านมา ท่ามกลางศาสนิกชนจำนวนมากที่หลั่งไหลเดินทางมายังจัตุรัสเซนต์ปีเตอร์เพื่อรอข่าวดี
ทั้งนี้ การเลือกพระสันตะปาปาในช่วงหลายศตวรรษที่ผ่านมาไม่ได้สำเร็จตั้งแต่วันแรกซึ่งคณะพระคาร์ดินัลจะดำเนินการประชุมลับต่อไป โดยจะลงคะแนนช่วงเช้า 2 รอบ และช่วงบ่าย 2 รอบ จนกว่าจะได้คัวนสีขาวในที่สุด
