10% Loy Krathong bus fare discount lasts until Monday

The Transport Ministry’s campaign to promote the Loy Krathong festival this year in the northern region includes a 10% bus fare discount until Monday.

All passengers buying the Transport Company’s roundtrip tickets between Bangkok and Chiang Mai, Sukhothai and Tak get the discount. The offer does not include any additional fees.

Passengers can purchase or book their tickets either at TCL ticket kiosks across the country or through its https://www.busticket.in.th/transport-company-limited.php website.

Meanwhile, a recent survey by the Center for Economic and Business Forecasting, under the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) in Bangkok, reveals that over 10-billion baht will circulate throughout the country related to Loy Krathong festivities in 2024.

UTCC President Thanavath Phonvichai, who is also the center’s Advisory Chief, said that the projected Loy Krathong spending by revellers represents the highest in nine years, signaling the ongoing recovery of the Thai economy.

Thanavath revealed that 50.7% of the 1,250 random samples surveyed have already planned their Loy Krathong-related activities, including dining out with family or friends, visits to Loy Krathong sites and merit making. 26.6% have opted to stay home.

According to the survey, the average spending per head will be 2,449.18 baht, a 3.5% increase over last year.

Based on the survey, the most active Loy Krathong festivities will be in Thailand’s southern region, followed by the north.
