Female defense volunteer injured as car explodes in Pattani

A female defence volunteer was injured when her private car exploded and caught fire in Pattani’s Kapor district this morning.

Suyanee was on her way to her office at about 10am when the blast occurred.

Security officials used a drone to inspect the vehicle and surrounding areas, while firefighters tried to extinguish the blaze.

An initial investigation has determined that the explosive device was planted near the vehicle’s fuel tank.

In Narathiwat’s Muang district last night, assailants opened fire on a security booth, injuring a border patrol police corporal. The squad’s leader, Korpong Boon-orn, who sustained a serious gunshot wound to the chest, remains in a nearby hospital.
