Thailand’s unemployment rate in first nine months was 1.03 percent

40 million people were in employment in the third quarter, representing a 0.1% drop compared to the second quarter, due mainly to a 3.4% contraction in the number of people employed in the farming sector, as a result of widespread flooding.
The number of people employed in construction, hospitality and food services increased by 1.4%, while employment in manufacturing, retail and vehicle repair fell slightly.
Employment in transport and goods storage services increased 14%, while employment in hotel and restaurant businesses rose by 6.1%. Employment in the automobile, computer and electronic goods sectors fell.
Of the 40 million people in employment in the third quarter, 36.69 million were Thai and the remainder were non-Thai. It was noted that the number of non-Thais in employment increased by 22.2% compared to the previous quarter.
