Spokesman for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, Ekwaranyu Amrapala, said today that eleven out of 50 districts in Bangkok were lashed by very heavy rain, measured at more than 90.5mm since 5pm Saturday, with the heaviest in Wang Thong Lang district.
The 11 districts include:
- Wang Thong Lang, 130mm
- Bang Khen, 111mm
- Phaya Thai, 106mm
- Bang Sue, 101mm
- Phra Nakhon, 99mm
- Wattana, 97mm
- Lat Phrao, 95mm
- Khlong Toei, 93mm
- Phra Khanong, 92mm
- Huai Khwang, 91.5mm
- Bang Kapi and 90.5mm
.
For the rest of the capital, rainfall ranged between 35.5mm and 90mm.
Ekwaranyu said that 108 locations in Bangkok saw flooding last night, but most of them are dry this morning.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department forecasts rain, with isolated heavy showers, across most of Bangkok today.
With a moderate high pressure cell looming over Vietnam and the South China Sea, the Weatherman said, combined with the south-easterly wind, will bring more moisture from the Gulf of Thailand and South China Sea into northern Thailand.
People in northern and central provinces can expect summer storms and should stay away from large trees and bill boards.
Temperatures are high in northern and eastern provinces and thunder storms are forecast across 60% of the area. Thunder storms are also forecast for the eastern and southern regions.
