自Kim Tschang-Yeul於1972年移居法國的第一張畫作開始，至今年初他與世長辭為止，近50年的創作歷程中，Kim Tschang-Yeul一直不斷地反覆描摹那晶瑩透亮的水滴，可以說是非常忠實、鍾情於這個繪製對象。而這個長久持續的主題，最初其實是始於Kim Tschang-Yeul工作室中被水浸濕的畫布。

這樣極端精細且寫實的畫作，總讓觀看者忍不住想觸摸確認，甚至質疑自己是否產生錯覺。透過光影找到自己身分的水滴，就如同Kim Tschang-Yeul不斷透過水滴來確立自己的定位。

Kim Tschang-Yeul表示，畫水滴的行為是融解「這些」之中的所有事物，使之恢復為「虛無」的透明狀態。透明的水滴偶爾散發出金色或白色的光芒，彷彿也連結向某一種道家清淨且形而上的狀態。他的願望是融解自我(ego)，透過消除憤怒、焦慮、恐懼和其他一切，恢復到虛空狀態，我們才能真正達到和平與滿足的境地。
