不定代名詞基本用法
不定代名詞表示不特定的人或物，或表示不特定數量的人或物之代名詞。
多數不定代名詞若後接名詞，則稱為不定形容詞，如 one, another, some, any…等等，但也有些無法轉換為不定形容詞，如 none, everything, someone… 等。以下將介紹幾個常用的不定代名詞，拿起筆記本吧！
One 的用法
One 為了代替敘述中不特定的人或物，避免名詞的重複，複數為 ones。
(1) 表示不特定的人
The students who do best in the exam are not necessarily the brightestones.
考試成績好的學生不一定是腦筋最好的學生。
One 當主詞時，後接的代名詞原則上會用 one, one’s, oneself，也可以用 he, his, himself 取代
One shouldn’t overwork oneself.
人不要讓自己操勞過度。One should not plead inexperience in excuse of his mistake.
一個人不應該藉口缺乏經驗來為其錯誤辯解。
(2) 表示不特定事物
This problem is not an easy one.
這不是個簡單的問題。
(3) 慣用法
- One and the same 一樣的
Inone and the same tunnel, a lot of different scenes were shot.
在同樣的一節隧道中，劇組將拍攝大量不同的鏡頭。
- One or two 一、兩個
Most people have one or two passwords that they use across all of their accounts.
大多數人他們使用的所有帳戶都有一個或者兩個密碼。
- It’s all one 沒有什麼不同
He can protest if he wants to; it’s all one to me.
他大可以抗議，那對我來說沒什麼。
- By ones and twos 三三兩兩地
After class, the students walk out of the classroom by ones and twos.
下課後，學生三三兩兩地走出教室。
不特定範圍的用法： another / others
(1) Another 為不特定的單數代名詞，未限制範圍，意思為「任何另外一個」。
To know is one thing, to practice is another.
知道是一回事，去做又是另一回事。
(2) Others 為不特定複數，未限制範圍，意思為「任何其他人或物」
Be kind to others.
寬以待人。
(3) 慣用法
- One after another 接二連三地
Misfortunes always come one after another.
壞事成雙。
- Every other 每隔一天、一周等
I do an hour of aerobicsevery other day.
我每兩天做一個小時的有氧舞蹈。
- One from the other 二者中之區別
I can’t tell one twin from the other. They look just the same.
我無法區別那對雙胞胎，他們看起來根本一模一樣。
- On the other hand 另一方面
On the other hand, if we can prevent ourselves from doing the unnecessary, we will have more time to do the right things.
另一方面，如果我們能夠避免做這些類似的事，那麼我們就會有更多的時間去做更加有意義的事。
- Some day or other 有一天
Some day or other you will fall in love with me.
總有一天你會愛上我的。
特定範圍的用法： the other / the others
(1) The other 為特定範圍的單數
比如說，比較某人的兩肩膀的高度：
He has one shoulder a little higher than the other.
他的一個肩比另一個肩略高一點。
(2) The others 為特定範圍的複數
In ability she towers over allthe others in her team.
她的能力勝過團隊內所有其他人。
筆記到這裡時是否有發現，加上 the 就代表要表示有限制特定的範圍。
不定代名詞進階用法
只要記住 the 為限制特定範圍，就好記囉！
- One…, the other 一個… 兩個中的另一個
Without one,the other suffers; together, both provide clarity and truth.
這兩種行為結合在一起提供了明晰和真理，是缺一不可的。
- One…, the others 特定範圍中的一個… 特定範圍中剩餘的全部
I saw four sweaters. One is red andthe others are blue.
我看到四件毛衣，一件是紅的，其他三件是藍的。
- One…, another…, and the other 表示有三個對象時，「一個…一個…另一個」
The CD player has three sound effects.One is pop, another is jazz and the other is rock.
這台 CD 機有三種音響效果。一種是流行，另外一種是爵士，還有一種是搖滾。
如果有「四個或以上」不同對象，就是one…, another…, another…, and the other 如此延續下去
I saw four sweaters.One is red,another is blue,another is white, and the other is green.
我看到四件毛衣，一件是紅的，一件是藍的，一件是白的，一件是綠的。
- One…, another…, and the others 表示為「一個…一個…剩下的全部」
I saw four sweaters. One is red, another is blue, and the others are white.
我看到四件毛衣，一件是紅的，一件是藍的，其他是白的。(白色數量超過一件，不需要一一點出)
- Some…, others… 為「有些…另一些…」
The students on the playground are energetic. Some are running, others are playing basketball.
操場上的學生很有活力，有些在跑步，有些在打籃球。
- Some…, the others 有些…其餘的另一些..
Some speak French,the others speak Japanese.
有些人講法語，其餘的人講日語。
