《APEX 英雄》（APEX Legends）遊戲設計主管 Daniel Z Klein 已確認離開 Respawn Entertainment，原因是繼動視暴雪的性醜聞風暴之後，網友挖出他在 2007 年曾發布的不當言論。
事件正好發生在動視暴雪因性醜聞訴訟案身陷嚴重的公關危機，同一時間 Klein 在 2007 年部落格曾留下的文章，被網友挖出疑似含有性別歧視與種族歧視的言論。

事情爆出後，Klein 於第一時間在推特發文，為自己過去的不成熟言論致歉，而他的同事 Ryan K. Rigney 也為他緩頰，認為 2007 年的行為不能反映這人在 2021 年的現在，同時也認為網友在沒有明確的證據情況下就指控 Klein 有性別歧視實為不妥。

然而事情並未止息，經過一週的時間，Klein 在個人推特證實自己已在上週五離開 Respawn 工作室。
Klein 在個人推特發表長文，解釋自己當年之所以會發表不當言論只為獲得人們的關注回應，同時再次承認錯誤，並認為自己這最近這幾年努力成為一個更好的人，也希望發生在自己身上的事能夠為其他處在同樣狀況的人帶來警示。
「我完全承認我在 2007 年發表過的可怕且偏執言論，我對於年輕的自己做出這些事感到厭惡。」Klein 向 Kotaku 表示：「但毫無疑問的，在我看來這些言論會曝光是因為有人刻意去尋找來打擊我。EA 也知道這一項指控，我特別要求他們注意這種策略，以免其他員工在未來會受到一樣的策略所針對。」
Klein 過去曾在 Riot Games 任職，2018 年因為拒絕配合公司的社交媒體政策而被開除，理由是之前在 PAX West 遊戲博覽會中，Riot 曾舉辦一場只限女性與非二元性別人士參加的活動而遭到玩家抗議，Klein 則是公開捍衛活動立場，進而與 Reddit 論壇網友引起爭辯，隨後便被 Riot 開除。
