（路透華盛頓29日電）美國首席防疫專家佛奇今天指出，科學家和衛生官員今年夏季前，應會更加清楚需以何種COVID-19疫苗追加劑來因應下個階段疫情發展及何時接種。
佛奇（Anthony Fauci）表示，美國國家衛生研究院（National Institutes of Health，NIH）現從事臨床研究，以在秋季前判定下個COVID-19（2019冠狀病毒疾病）追加劑應否特定針對1種獨特的冠狀病毒變異株，或是對付1種以上的變異株。

佛奇目前是NIH所屬國家過敏與傳染病研究院（National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases）院長。
佛奇今天華盛頓的全國記者俱樂部（National Press Club）主辦的視訊活動中指出：「我們可能將在夏季時知道何時及什麼，來為人們提供追加劑。」
佛奇還說，衛生專家正在仔研究軼事性報告，即有關一些經篩檢呈陽性或輕症的人在服用輝瑞（Pfizer Inc）抗病毒口服藥Paxlovid 5天後的情況。
