聯合國祕書長古特瑞斯(Antonio Guterres)1日呼籲布吉納法索、幾內亞和馬利的軍政府，儘快將權力交還給文人統治。
結束和塞內加爾總統薩爾(Macky Sall)在達卡(Dakar)的會談後，古特瑞斯表示，他們同意有必要繼續和這3個國家的實際領導當局對話，以便迅速重返「憲法秩序」。

這3個都在對抗沙赫爾地區(Sahel)聖戰士叛亂的國家，近年來都經歷了軍事政變：馬利是在2020年8月、幾內亞是2021年9月、布吉納法索則是2022年1月。
薩爾是西非經濟共同體(ECOWAS)目前的輪值主席，這個西非集團已經暫停這3國的會員資格。
在馬利政權拒絕快速重返文人統治後，西非經濟共同體已在1月對這個國家祭出嚴厲制裁，並對幾內亞和布吉納法索發出威脅，表示一旦他們未能在一個「合理的」期限內快速轉型至文人統治，將會面臨類似的制裁。

但這兩國已拒絕西非經濟共同體設定的時間表。
布吉納法索上個月25日表示，他們無意縮短已經宣佈的3年轉型期。
幾內亞的軍方領袖頓波雅(Mamady Doumbouya)則在4月30日表示，他選擇在39個月的過渡期內過渡到文人統治。但這項決定遭到幾內亞反對派領袖的嚴厲譴責，包括遭罷黜的總統顧德(Alpha Conde)政黨在內。
至於馬利政權也持續無視西非經濟共同體的施壓。
馬利在4月21日宣佈，在舉行選舉前將啟動為期2年的過渡「進程」。
西非經濟共同體已要求，最多在16個月內就要舉行選舉。
