6月17日報導，美國社群網站上一位名為Cuffs TheLegend的使用者今天做出預測，Kawhi Leonard即將加盟湖人。這位使用者據傳是湖人巨星LeBron James的一位好友，他此前曾於6月10日提前預測過Anthony Davis將加盟湖人。

Cuffs TheLegend在社群網站上發出一套湖人的先發陣容，陣容中提到Kyle Kuzma、Rajon Rondo、Anthony Davis，提到LeBron是用一個皇冠替代，另外他還發出一隻大手。明眼人一看就知道，大手正是Leonard的代名詞，因為Leonard那雙大手在聯盟中是出了名的。

而根據The Ringer記者Kevin O’Connor爆料，即便湖人很難在完成Davis交易後湊出3270萬美元的薪資空間，但他們依然有意追求Leonard。在發出那個先發陣容之後，Cuffs TheLegend還發出一條消息：「金州擁有五星豪華陣容（他們撒謊了），一週之後，這一切會更搞笑。」

6月10日，Cuffs TheLegend就曾在社群網站上提前曝料Davis將會加盟湖人，而湖人將會留下Kuzma繼續為球隊效力，Cuffs TheLegend當時甚至還表示，那是湖人的重大勝利。今年5月底，Cuffs TheLegend還曾經在社群網站上傳一張Kyrie Irving身穿湖人11號球衣的P圖。隨後，LeBron還對這一照片點了讚！
而早前Leonard的表弟發了一則直播暗示Leonard將投奔湖人，他說道：「Kawhi on the way！」(指Kawhi要來了) 這影片也引發更多人的好奇！
