三星 Galaxy Fold 自世界行動通訊大會（Mobile World Congress，MWC 2019）前夕正式亮相後獲得熱烈討論，預計 26 日於美國上市，台灣方面也將在 25 日舉行媒體鑑賞會宣布進入台灣市場。不過在開賣前夕，獲邀評測的國外媒體及知名 YouTuber 測試摺疊螢幕卻都發生問題。
不久前發表 Galaxy Fold 評測的 The Verge 記者 Dieter Bohn，17 日發文談到手上的 Galaxy Fold 摺疊螢幕出狀況，從下圖顯示螢幕的摺疊位置有個小小突起，更造成螢幕出現 2 條白線異常交會，推測是轉軸結構的某個零件向上擠壓到 OLED 面板。
Dieter Bohn 也說明並非對 Galaxy Fold 有任何不當使用，只是開闔螢幕、觸控操作，並曾把它放入口袋；為了拍攝需求有在機身背後黏一小塊支撐用的黏土，但不會造成螢幕突起。此事發生在報導刊出 2 天之後，對於才剛完成評測的記者來說更感到痛苦，他說：「我不知道發生了什麼事，我只知道螢幕壞了。」

聯繫三星官方後，這支 Galaxy Fold 送回原廠檢修，官方也還未針對此事發表聲明或任何看法。更慘的是，摺疊螢幕出狀況的可不只 Dieter Bohn 一人，包括 CNBC 記者 Steve Kovach、彭博社記者 Mark Gurman、知名 YouTuber Marques Brownlee 也都在社群媒體上傳 Galaxy Fold 螢幕問題的照片。

實際上一般零售版 Galaxy Fold 是有加註警語，不能撕下那片薄膜，若是額外加上螢幕保護貼也可能造成螢幕損壞，但這次提供外媒的評測版卻沒有警語。

Dieter Bohn 遇到的突起問題應與薄膜無關，但他也指出如果仔細觀察螢幕邊緣，可以看到有一種螢幕保護膜，三星官方稱為聚合物層（polymer layer），不是為了撕下設計的，所以提醒以後想入手這款摺疊手機的讀者千萬要記得。
