近期 NBA 消息不斷，稍早前，根據 NBA 爆料大神 Adrian Wojnarowski 的報導指出，「哈佛小子」林書豪透過經紀人 Jim Tanner 與 Roger Montgomery 宣布，他將與亞特蘭大老鷹進行買斷，並以自由球員的身分前往「北境之都」多倫多暴龍。

林書豪今年還有 1 年 1380 萬美元的合約在手，若老鷹直接放棄林書豪，接手的球隊至少還得負擔 400 萬美元的薪資，但老鷹完成買斷之後，林書豪便可以自由球員的身分選擇下一個東家。或許是命中註定，近期暴龍後衛 Fred VanVleet 因左手大拇指受傷，可能要缺陣至少 3 個禮拜以上的時間，因此這時林書豪的加盟，必定能及時為暴龍增添一定的戰力，成為主控 Kyle Lowry 身後的重要替補。

林書豪在得知此消息後，也立刻在個人 Instagram 發布貼文，感謝這季亞特蘭大老鷹為他做的點點滴滴，林書豪寫道：「感謝老鷹給我機會，讓我從 2 年的傷病中恢復過來，你們幫助我在球場上找回自己，讓我重新找回享受打球的樂趣。謝謝老闆 Ressler 家族，謝謝經理 Travis，謝謝教練 Pierce，謝謝我的隊友們。這是一支做事正確又待人真誠的球隊，很榮幸能與史上最佳的 Vince Carter 同隊，並看著年輕人慢慢成長茁壯。亞特蘭大老鷹的前途絕對是一片光明的！！！我說的是真的！所有認識我的人，都知道我的夢想有多大，也知道我對比賽有多麼投入。最後，我非常興奮能加盟多倫多暴龍！！#WeTheNorth #NeverDone」
