比賽主播Mike Breen分享了一則有關Williams的趣事，故事發生在2011年的平安夜，那時的Williams還身披76人的球衣，當時他正開車行駛在費城的路上，突然一個持槍搶劫犯在Williams等紅綠燈時，敲開車窗並用槍指著Williams的頭，要搶劫Williams。這時Williams沒有絲毫慌張，先向搶劫犯表明了自己的身份，然後語重心長的和搶劫犯說了很多。

幾分鐘後，搶劫犯彷彿也被Williams說動，說到：「你為這個社區貢獻了很多，很了不起」，隨後把槍收了起來。大家以為事情就這麼結束了嗎？當然沒有！Williams大方的邀請其上車，並帶他去了麥當勞，兩人進行了一番有關人生的長談，吃完以後劫匪甚至還要主動買單。
這段故事實在是非常離奇，只能說Lou除了在場上有著神奇演出外，連嘴上功夫也相當厲害，竟然可以把一個搶匪勸成一起吃飯的對象。
