Three special ops wounded in Yala blast
Three police special operations officers were injured this morning when suspected insurgents detonated an improvised explosive device (IED) in Raman district in Yala province while the officers were conducting a routine school security operation.
The incident occurred at around 8.35am in front of Ban Pulai School in Moo 6 of Balo sub-district, according to local police.
Members of the Yala Special Operations Unit 12 (Raman) were protecting teachers and students arriving for classes when the IED was detonated.
Following the explosion, security forces sealed the area to allow explosive ordnance disposal (EOD) experts and forensic investigators to collect evidence and determine the type of explosive used.
The investigation is ongoing and security has been heightened across the district.
