International sales of exported petroleum gas by country totaled US$267.6 billion in 2019.
Overall, the value of petroleum gas exports increased by an average 5.4% for all exporting countries since 2015 when petroleum gas shipments were valued at $253.9 billion. Year over year, exported petroleum gas dropped by -10.6%.
Among continents, Asian countries sold the highest dollar worth of exported petroleum gas during 2019 with shipments valued at $95.1 billion or 35.5% of the global total. In second place were European exporters at 23.3% while 15.2% of worldwide petroleum gas shipments originated from Oceania led by Australia and Papua New Guinea. Another 14.8% came from North America well ahead of suppliers in Africa (8.2%) and Latin America (3%) excluding Mexico but including the Caribbean.

Below are the 15 countries that exported the highest dollar value worth of petroleum gas during 2019.

  • Australia: US$36.2 billion (13.5% of total petroleum gas exports)
  • Qatar: $33.2 billion (12.4%)
  • United States: $30.5 billion (11.4%)
  • Norway: $21.4 billion (8%)
  • Germany: $13.6 billion (5.1%)
  • Malaysia: $10.7 billion (4%)
  • Algeria: $10.4 billion (3.9%)
  • Russia: $9.5 billion (3.6%)
  • Canada: $9.2 billion (3.4%)
  • Indonesia: $8.6 billion (3.2%)
  • Turkmenistan: $8.6 billion (3.2%)
  • United Arab Emirates: $6.8 billion (2.5%)
  • Oman: $5.9 billion (2.2%)
  • Nigeria: $5.4 billion (2%)
  • Papua New Guinea: $4.4 billion (1.7%)

The listed 15 countries shipped 80.2% of global petroleum gas exported in 2019 by value.
Among the top exporters, the fastest-growing exporters of petroleum gas since 2015 were: Oman (up 5,212%), Australia (up 177.4%), United States (up 163.2%) and Russia (up 69%).
Those countries that posted declines in their exported petroleum gas sales were led by: Qatar (down -34.2%), Algeria (down -29.1%), Norway (down -28.6%), Nigeria (down -27.3%) and Indonesia (down -16.7%).
