Paige VanZant has offered to fight "Karate Hottie" Michelle Waterson with Joanna Jedrzejczyk struggling to make weight for the UFC Tampa main event this weekend.
Combate reported that former strawweight champion Jedrzejczyk informed the UFC last week she would be unable to make 115 pounds for Saturday's fight with Waterson.
Jedrzejczyk has decided to attempt what could be a scary weight cut, having failed to negotiate a catchweight at 120 pounds.
"Hey UFC, if Michelle doesn't have a fight, I'll make 115 and fight her December 14th," VanZant wrote on Twitter.
"The fight would be almost three years later to the day since the first fight."
Waterson (17-6), who submitted VanZant (8-4) by rear-naked choke in the first round of their December 2016 fight, expressed her frustration with Jedrzejczyk.
"I heard that Joanna was having trouble making weight and that she wanted to renegotiate the contract at 120 (pounds)," Waterson told MMA Fighting.
"I took this fight under the assumption that we were both in contention for the strawweight belt, and to me, that's a very serious undertaking.
"There's only a couple things you have to do as a fighter, and one of them is make weight. My intention is to fight for the strawweight belt - not for the flyweight belt, not for the featherweight belt. The 115 belt."
