State-owned railway operator PT Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) has decided to halt its Commuter Line service before Palmerah Station to anticipate traffic due to the inauguration of President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo and vice president-elect Ma'ruf Amin on Sunday afternoon.
The Rangkasbitung/Maja/Parungpanjang/Serpong line bound for the Tanah Abang interchange station is to instead terminate at Kebayoran Station in South Jakarta.
"This measure is being taken in consideration of the difficulties commuters are likely to encounter in finding transportation after alighting at Palmerah Station, because many roads around the station have been closed or diverted," KCI spokesperson Anne Purba said in a statement on Sunday.
The presidential inauguration is being held at the House of Representatives in the Senayan legislative complex in Central Jakarta, a stone's throw from Palmerah Station. Security has been heightened ahead of the event.
Anne said that the other Commuter Line services would operate as usual. (kmt)
