TEMPO.CO, Jakarta -A joint-rescue team comprised of members from the Indonesian military, police, and reptilian community held a rescue mission at Bogor, West Java's Royal Citayam Residence after residents complained of cobra infestation. The team managed to secure 34 cobras in the operation.
Head of Susukan Village, Sanan Wijaya said that reports on cobra infestation in the newly-built residential area were first reported on December 3, 2019.
"A total of 34 cobras were secured and most were still infants," said Wijaya at the location on Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
Wijaya said that the team is still searching for the fully grown cobras together with local residents. Amidst the operation, Wijaya called for locals to keep an eye on vital places in the residence such as playgrounds.
A member of the reptile community Rizky Maulana predicts that there is a small chance that the team will find more cobras after capturing 34 of them in an operation, which was mostly 1-2 months-old with an average length of 30 centimeters.
