TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang and Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta continue to operate during Jakarta’s Large-scale Social Restriction (PSBB), starting today, April 10, and up to the next 14 days.
In spite of this, state airport operator Angkasa Pura II ensures that the two airports' operations will continue to adhere to COVID-19 protocols.
"Among other things, (the airports) will operate with a minimum number of employees and prioritize as well as carry out efforts to prevent COVID-19 transmission," said AP II CEO Muhammad Awaluddin in his written statement, on Friday, April 10, 2020.
Soekarno Hatta and Halim Perdanakusuma Airports have been in minimum operation, since April 1, 2020. Awaluddin explains that there is the operational limitation of Terminal 1 and 2, by only opening Sub Terminals 1A as well as 2D and 2E, respectively, while Terminal 3 remains fully operational.
Halim Perdanakusuma Airport has also simplified passenger queues in terminals. "The minimum operation allows our operational personnel to work from home (WFH). Every day, around 30-40 percent of the total operational personnel in Soekarno-Hatta and Halim Perdanakusuma work from home," he said.
According to Awaluddin, his office will continue to ensure public transportation remains available for workers and passengers, who have just landed, to commute in. On top of that, a contingency plan has also been prepared by Angkasa Pura II in adjustment with the most recent developments.
"We will ensure the availability of public transportation such as Damri buses, shuttle buses, taxis and other (modes of transportation) while adjusting the number of passengers to allow physical distancing," he said.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan previously issued Gubernatorial Regulation No. 33 of 2020 concerning PSBB implementation in the handling of the coronavirus pandemic. The Gubernatorial Regulation consists of 28 articles which regulate all activities in Jakarta, ranging from economic, educational, social, cultural, religious and educational activities.
