American bakery Cinnabon has landed at Hong Kong's Olympian City 2 " but there are classier pastry products on offer at the new Gontran Cherrier in K11 Musea and Dominique Ansel's new Dang Wen Li
Nothing beats the smell of freshly baked bread and pastries, and now, thanks to creative bakers and patissiers, many are a sight to behold. Three new bakeries have recently landed in Hong Kong and those with a sweet tooth and a penchant for carb-loaded delights, you're in for a sweet treat!
Dang Wen Li by Dominique Ansel
World-famous patissier and creator of the legendary cronut Dominique Ansel has opened a brand new concept store at Harbour City. However, instead of cronuts, Hongkongers are in for treats that give them a huge dose of nostalgia infused with new flavours and combinations. The pineapple bun, for instance " while looking exactly like the cha chaan teng staple " is actually a cake with tropical pineapple lime and passion fruit jam, coconut dacquoise and salted mascarpone cream.

Hong Kong has a surplus of exceptional patissiers, and the new Gontran Cherrier in K11 Musea adds to the mix. Ever since his flagship store opened in Paris, the brand has been expanding around the world, with more than 50 locations and many dotted around Asian cities such as Tokyo and Singapore. Famous for his delectable croissants, the famed pastry chef has opened an-all day dining establishment that also serves sandwiches and salads as well as pastry and desserts.

With a little less prestige but no less flavour than other recently opened establishments, Cinnabon is a globally-recognised American chain that specialises in ooey-gooey cinnamon rolls. These pastries are an age-old comfort food that strike at the heartstrings for those who love the spice with some sticky icing or sugar. There are three flavours available in Hong Kong for now " classic, Caramel PecanBon and Chocobon " which all come in the smaller-sized Minibons and taster-sized BonBites for those who want to share as well.
