MOSCOW, Jan. 21 (Xinhua) -- A recent bill approved by the Armenian government to initiate the country's European Union (EU) accession process does not specify any concrete timelines, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said on Tuesday.

"The bill is a public document; it does not include concrete timelines or specific mechanisms," Mirzoyan explained during a press briefing following talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov in Moscow.

The Armenian cabinet approved the bill on Jan. 9, marking the formal start of the EU accession process. The bill, introduced to parliament by the Eurovote civic initiative following a petition, is expected to pass with the support of the ruling majority.

For his part, Lavrov said Moscow is continuing its efforts to normalize relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. "We are ready to provide the necessary assistance to facilitate the normalization of ties between Armenia and Azerbaijan," Lavrov said, emphasizing the relevance of the trilateral agreements reached in 2020 and 2022 in the current regional context. ■
