影/95歲失智嬤揮刀遭電擊亡！澳警被判過失殺人

澳洲一名警察為制止失智的95歲阿嬤持刀攻擊護理人員，使用電擊槍（Taser Gun）將其擊倒，後者倒地時摔到頭，於一週後去世。近日，涉案警察被判處過失殺人罪。

據CNN26日報導，死者是住在澳洲新南威爾斯州庫馬亞蘭比療養院（Yallambee Lodge）的95歲失智阿嬤諾蘭（Clare Nowland）。2023年5月17日凌晨5點左右，她身著睡衣，手持雙刀並藉助助行器在療養院內行走，拒絕護理人員要求她返回房間，還向護理人員丟出一把刀。

隨後，護理人員報警叫來2名警察，後者對諾蘭發出多次警告，要求放下她手中的牛排刀但遭到拒絕，其中一名警察懷特（Kristian White）向她使用了電擊槍。

遭到電擊的諾蘭向後摔倒，頭部被撞，送醫一週後不治身亡。事後，懷特遭停職處理。

在法庭上，嫌犯懷特辯稱使用電擊槍是當時確保安全解決事件的「唯一選擇」，但這一說法遭到檢方的質疑，指其涉嫌對95歲高齡且身材瘦小的諾蘭濫用武力。

陪審團經過約3天的審議後，認定他在未履行對諾蘭的照護責任並進行不合法且危險的行為，判決懷特犯下過失殺人罪，並將於近期判刑。

諾蘭的家人在判決後發表聲明，對法官、檢察官和陪審團表示感謝，強調嫌犯對諾蘭濫用武力致其死亡是犯罪行為。
