BEIJING, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed higher on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.28 percent to 3,236.03 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.41 percent higher at 10,101.1 points.
The combined turnover covered by the two indices stood at 1.27 trillion yuan (about 176.68 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.19 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to the Xiaohongshu lifestyle app, home appliances and non-ferrous metals led the gains, while those related to humanoid robots and semiconductors were among the top decliners.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.66 percent to close at 2,051.35 points Thursday. ■
