Seven Chinese players have made it into the top 100 in the WTA world rankings, with Zheng Qinwen reaching a career-high 13th.

WUHAN, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's top women's singles player Zheng Qinwen has reached a career-best 13th place in the WTA world rankings, while six other Chinese players stand in the world's top 100.

In Monday's newly-released rankings, 21-year-old Zheng escalated to a career-high world ranking of 13 with 2,790 points after she led China to the United Cup quarterfinals last week.

29-year-old Zhu Lin remained 33rd, closely followed by Wang Xinyu, who climbed one place up to 34th by surpassing Canada's Fernandez Leylah. Wang Xiyu marched to 62nd place, nine spots up in the standings, thanks in part to her last-four finish in the Auckland ASB Classic. Yuan Yue improved four places to rank 73rd, Bai Zhuoxuan sits 87th, and Wang Yafan is 97th.

Poland's Iga Swiatek ranks world No. 1, and has now remained in that spot for 85 consecutive weeks. Belarus's Aryna Sabalenka remains second and Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan sits third. ■
