BEIJING, June 21 (Xinhua) -- This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of China-Malaysia diplomatic relations, and the Year of China-Malaysia Friendship.

Over the past 50 years, China and Malaysia have always been committed to sincere friendship, win-win cooperation, and mutual learning.

The China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park and the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park co-built by China and Malaysia have set an innovative example of bilateral economic cooperation under the "Two Countries, Twin Parks" model.

The China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region was launched in 2012, and its sister park, the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park (MCKIP) in Kuantan, Malaysia, was set up in 2013.

Relying on the natural endowments, industrial advantages and market resources of both countries, the two parks have accelerated the construction of cross-border industrial chain, supply chain and value chain, as well as the layout of characteristic industries over the past decade.

Official data showed that over the past 12 years, at the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park, 249 projects have been signed, with a total investment in fixed assets of about 29.5 billion yuan (about 4.2 billion U.S. dollars) and a total industrial output value of 93.8 billion yuan, forming an industrial agglomeration of processing and trade of some featured products.

Bird's nest is a Malaysian specialty. In a bird's nest processing and trading base of the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park, Malaysian bird's nest products undergo several procedures before entering the Chinese market.

The bird's nest industry has become an important international cooperation project in the China-Malaysia Qinzhou Industrial Park. The park is home to 22 bird's nest enterprises, and the overall import value of bird's nest products has reached 709 million yuan (97.6 million U.S. dollars). Furthermore, the total industrial output value of the bird's nest industry has achieved 316 million yuan (43.5 million U.S. dollars).

Located on Malaysia's east coast, the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park is expediting the construction of ports, terminals, factories, and service areas. These efforts aim to establish industrial clusters with a focus on steel, tires, glass, and aluminum products.

The Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park has witnessed the signing of 13 projects, with a total investment of more than 44 billion yuan and a total industrial output value of more than 60 billion yuan.

The first phase of the Alliance Steel (M) Sdn. Bhd. plant, the initial project in the Malaysia-China Kuantan Industrial Park, was built on an investment of 1.4 billion dollars and full operation started in June 2019.

The plant is a leading steel producer in Southeast Asia with an annual output capacity of 3.5 million tons.
